Mr. Karim Khan Saka is an iconic figure of the Hunza Valley, renowned for his dynamic contributions as a business entrepreneur, cultural promoter, and environmental conservationist. His relentless dedication to community development, cultural preservation, and youth empowerment has made him a respected leader in Gilgit-Baltistan and beyond.
A Pioneer in Business and Culinary Excellence
In 2015, Mr. Saka established Pizza Pamir, a chain of restaurants that quickly gained fame for its exceptional food quality and service. With over 30 permanent employees, his venture has provided sustainable livelihoods for local youth, showcasing his commitment to economic empowerment. His team is widely regarded as one of the best in the hospitality industry, and his unique pizza recipes have earned top rankings among food enthusiasts.
Expanding his entrepreneurial vision, Mr. Saka recently opened a new branch of Pizza Pamir in Tashkurgan, Xinjiang (China), further strengthening cross-border cultural and culinary ties. His restaurants have become a must-visit for tourists, blending traditional flavors with modern dining experiences.
A Champion of Culture and Community Service
Beyond business, Mr. Saka has been an active force in social and cultural organizations. In 2017, he served as  Senior Vice President of the Hunza Art and Cultural Council (HACC), dedicating three years to promoting Hunza’s rich heritage. Since 2021, he has been an influential member of the Ismaili Regional Council Hunza, contributing to community welfare and development initiatives.
Hailing from Shimshal, Upper Hunza—a community known for its inspiring conservation efforts—Mr. Saka has played a pivotal role in environmental protection. In 2022, he was elected Chairman of the Shimshal Nature Trust (SNT), and in 2023, he took on leadership as Chairman of the Gojal Community Conservation Association (GCCA), overseeing conservation efforts across 11 communities in Gojal Hunza.
A Literary Contributor and Award-Winning Leader
Mr. Saka’s passion for preserving ethnic cultures extends to his literary work. He holds the unique distinction of being the only author from Gilgit-Baltistan to publish books in France, written in French, focusing on the languages and cultures of Wakhi, Shina, Balti, and Kalasha people. His scholarly contributions have brought global recognition to the region’s linguistic diversity.
